Recently, on April 18, 2017, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull issued a decision to cancel the the Visa 457, which will be replaced by a new visa with more stringent inspection.

What is the Visa 457?

Visa 457 is the most common visa for businesses to guarantee overseas workers to come Australia for work temporarily. This is the most commonly used program for employers to guarantee foreign labors to work in Australia temporarily. From September 14, 2009, under the subclass visa program of 457, there are no special arrangements for employers in regional areas across Australia.

The cancelation of the visa 457 by the Australian government has led some Vietnamese wanting to stay in Australia to change their study and job plans while others feel more anxious and trouble than ever.

For the benefit of Australia

According to The Australian, Mr. Turnbull said the new visa system "is clear, strict and determined to operate according to national benefit".

The new visa category replacing for Visa 457 is the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa with two types, Short-term stream and Medium-term stream, taking effect for 2 years and 4 years, respectively. Visa TSS requires workers with experience, stricter requirements for skills, English proficiency and judicial records. Previously, the visa 457 did not check the criminal records of visa applicants. The list of jobs eligible for TSS is shortened compared to the visa 457.

More importantly, for this new visa, the holder of short-term (2-year) visa cannot apply for permanent residency after the visa expires. Currently, there are nearly 98,000 people with visa 457, so this is a great difficulty for people wanting to live and to study in Australia.

So why we don't come to Bleo group international training and consulting companies to be consulted and supported about this new regulation in order to take the right steps and reasonable studying and working plans.
