With this visa, you can

Partner program
If we issue you this visa and you and your spouse want to settle in Australia, apply for a Partner visa (subclasses 820 and 801):
-After you get married, and
-Before your future marriage visa ends
You will pay less for a Partner visa if you apply while your potential Marriage visa is still valid.
How long can you stay
This is a temporary visa. You can stay in Australia for up to 9 months from the date of visa issuance. The visa term starts on the day it is issued.

Family members who apply for a visa must meet our health and character requirements.

The visa is priced at 7,715 AUD for the principal applicant.
There is also a fee for each family member who applies for a visa to you.
You may also have to pay other costs for health checks, police certificates and biometrics.

You will also pay a fee for your Partner visa. You pay less for this visa if you marry your future spouse and apply for a Partner visa before your prospective Marriage visa ends.

Processing Time
We handle:
-75% of applications for 16 months
-90% of applications filed in 22 months
Your application may take longer to process if:
-You didn't enter it correctly

We cannot process your application if you do not pay the visa application fee. We will notify everyone if this is a case.

Your marriage
You must enter Australia on a potential Marriage visa before the date specified on your letter.
You must marry your future spouse before your prospective marriage visa expires.
You can get married in Australia or any other country. Your marriage must be valid under Australian law.

Travel
You can travel outside Australia and return as often as you like while your visa is valid.
New Zealand passport
New Zealand passport holders should tell the border immigration officer that they have a potential Marriage visa. If you do not tell them, you may be granted a special visa (subclass 444). Subclass 444 visas will terminate your prospective marriage visa.
Label display
We will digitally link your visa to your passport. You will not receive a label in your passport.
