Assistant Manager

- An exciting opportunity exists for an Assistant Manager with extensive hands on experience working with large numbers of sheep. The role will essentially provide support and assistance to the manager with the operations of this mixed-enterprise property, including the supervision of staff and contractors and ensuring the day to day programs are managed effectively and efficiently. The position may also require the incumbent to act in the role of station manager when the manager is absent from the property.
- The successful applicant will have, in conjunction with the manager, the opportunity to assist in the development of a productive livestock enterprise supported by an efficient stock husbandry program.
- Although the main requirement for the position is experience in all aspects of operating a large self-replacing merino flock (43,000 dse), the ability to assist with the beef herd (32,000 dse) would be an advantage.
The following requirements are essential:
· Experience in all aspects of sheep grazing management and husbandry operations with the ability to handle large numbers of stock on a daily basis.
· Experience with cattle an advantage.
· Demonstrated ability to plan and manage the work program for staff, while assisting the manager in the management of the property.
· Proven experience in people management and leadership.
· Have an understanding of and a commitment to, Workplace Health and Safety for themselves and the staff.
· Have an effective team of yard dogs.
· Experience with infrastructure maintenance.
· A current car license is essential, while a motorbike license would be an advantage.
· Have full working rights in Australia.
A fully expensed three bedroom house 17 km from the coastal town of Kingston S.E. with access to a school bus, with pick up directly opposite the property, is available.
