Position: Farm and Green House Worker
Salary: $16.40 per hour
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary. Contract 12 months.

Duties:
- Maintain garden bed cleanup
- Completing seeding, transplanting and harvesting
- Perform general maintenance of property including mowing, pollinator bed maintenance and keeping the portable clean
- Complete crop observations
- Fill out daily pest and crop records
- Follow Integrated Pest Management System
- Assess crop nutrient needs, fertilize as needed
- Complete inventory for greenhouse products
- Complete daily farm and greenhouse walk-through
Project Coordination:
- Assist with greenhouse and farm tours
- Assist with building greenhouse and other infrastructures
- Engage with the public
- Assist with point of sale, marketing, and promoting the greenhouse
- Work with Supervisor to schedule planting, transplanting and harvesting
- Maintain farm journal with dates, weather report and activities completed
- Maintain crop records for drought tolerant breeding program
- Answer customer questions and directing customers
- Receive orders of garden centre and greenhouse supplies
Experience and Knowledge:
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks
- Experience in greenhouse growing an asset
- Knowledge of gardening/farming
- Knowledge of medicinal and native plants an asset

- Organizational Skills: Sets priorities, develops a work schedule, monitors progress towards goals and tracks details, data, information and activities
- Problem solving: asses problem situations to identify causes, gathers and processes relevant information, generates possible solutions and makes recommendations to the Manager
- Farm Skills: ability to do physical labour, work outdoors and in the heat. Passion and interest in promoting and establishing food security and community engagement.
Working Conditions: This position will be in a greenhouse, farm, kitchen, and office setting. This position will work on a contract basis of 35 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekends for the duration of the contract from May 2021 until March 2022. Compensation is paid through Employment Insurance.
Eligibility: To qualify for this position participants must be:
- On Employment Insurance (EI) or
- Eligible for reach back- on EI within the last five years
- Collected CERB
- Collecting Disability Assistance
